donofro Architects is a design-oriented firm that reflects and celebrates the ever changing design and technological environment. We provide excellence in custom architecture and design services for residential, cultural, corporate and academic buildings.
Our method combines design + construction management experience to create a distinctive design process and thus an end product that is intellectually and aesthetically rigorous as well as financially informed. Careful listening and observing allow our projects to unfold organically.
donofro Architects design responsibly, creates integrated, energy-efficient, healthy and lasting structures. Works consist of custom design projects including flagship commercial spaces, ecclesiastical, educational, financial historic, industrial, institutional, medical, municipal, native american, recreational, residential new and remodels, retail and restaurants, within the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
Established in in Dothan, Alabama in 1955, by Joseph L. Donofro. Donofro was the first firm to locate in Dothan. His experience of 62 years and leadership impacted the built enviroment in Southwest Georgia, Northwest Florida and South Alabama until his retirement in the late 1990s.
Joseph R. Donofro is the president of donofro Architects and oversees the Dothan, Montgomery and Fort Walton studios. Since graduating Auburn University in 1979 with a Bachelors in Architecture, Mr. Donofro has overseen many landmark projects in the Southeast, while maintaining an active civic and community service involvement. He has held the position as an officer in the Alabama Council AIA and was a charter member of the local AIA component. He has served as an officer and board member with Design Alabama, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Dothan Redevelopment Authority, and is a member of the Dothan Rotary Club.
